How it work’s for you!
Our Process
Wee Foragers makes it simple for nurseries and early years settings to serve nourishing, whole food meals made from seasonal ingredients sourced from Scotland’s natural larder. Our meals are carefully prepared using simple, recognisable ingredients, then frozen to lock in nutrition and delivered ready for your team to cook and serve.
Designed with real nursery life in mind, Wee Foragers meals are easy to prepare, allergen aware, and created to support children’s wellbeing while helping settings provide high quality food every day.
Start by contacting the Wee Foragers team to discuss your setting and your food requirements. We’ll talk through how many children you are catering for, your delivery area, and answer any questions about our meals, ingredients, or ordering process.
Email us at info@weeforagers.com and a member of our team will be happy to help.
Our menus run on a three week rotation, with dishes changing week to week. Meals also evolve throughout the year to reflect seasonal ingredients from Scotland’s natural larder, helping children connect food with the seasons and local farming.
Every dish we serve also has an allergen aware alternative, ensuring children with dietary needs can enjoy a similar meal experience alongside their peers. These dishes avoid the 14 main allergens and use nourishing plant-based ingredients where needed.
All Wee Foragers meals are made from whole, non-ultra-processed foods using simple, recognisable ingredients, supporting children’s wellbeing and healthy development.
After our initial conversation, our team will send you a simple Jot-form order form. This allows you to select your meals and confirm your order quickly and easily. Payments can be made via Bank Transfer or by using a debit or credit card.
Once payment has been received, we will confirm your order and arrange your delivery schedule.
All meals are cooked, portioned into half gastro trays and frozen to lock in nutrition, quality, and shelf life before delivery. Each tray provides approximately 15 child portions and arrives clearly labelled with simple cooking instructions, making preparation straightforward for nursery teams.
Orders are packaged in sturdy cardboard boxes and insulated using Woolcool, a sustainable material made from recycled sheep’s wool. Woolcool provides excellent temperature control to keep meals safely frozen during transit while reducing the need for single-use plastic packaging. The wool insulation can also be reused in nurseries for craft activities or in outdoor spaces to help protect plants from frost.
Meals are delivered via DPD courier, with next-day delivery across mainland Scotland and a 48-hour service for the Highlands and Islands. Delivery dates are confirmed in advance and full tracking information is provided so settings can plan for receipt and safe storage of their meals.
When it’s time to serve, trays can be placed straight into the oven from frozen. Meals are typically ready in around 1.5–2 hours depending on oven type and portion size.
Wee Foragers also supports settings in communicating food choices with families. Through social media resources and simple marketing materials, nurseries can share weekly menus, seasonal ingredients, and the story behind the meals being served. This helps parents understand the value of whole, seasonal food and the thoughtful approach behind each dish.
By combining high-quality ingredients, seasonal menus, and practical delivery systems designed for real nursery environments, Wee Foragers offers something different food that supports children’s wellbeing, connects them with where food comes from, and brings meaning back to everyday mealtimes.
