Our Food
Big Standards, for Small Plates..
Seasonal food. Real ingredients. Thriving children
At Wee Foragers, we’re choosing a different path for children’s food. In Scotland, children are growing up in a food environment where ultra processed foods dominate diets, with links to rising childhood obesity and concerns around nutrition and gut health (Public Health Scotland).
Diet is also closely connected to children’s energy levels, emotional regulation, and behaviour something we’ve seen first hand in our own settings, where moving to whole ingredients which are recognisable and seasonal food led to children becoming calmer, more settled, and more engaged in their day
We offer real, seasonal, locally sourced meals made from whole ingredients, supporting children’s health, wellbeing, and early learning. Our approach aligns with national guidance including Setting the Table, Realising the Ambition, and Learning for Sustainability, recognising food as a key part of children’s development and everyday experiences. Rooted in Scotland’s natural larder, we work with local farmers, growers, and suppliers to support short supply chains and sustainable food systems. This creates meaningful opportunities for children to understand where food comes from, while supporting positive health outcomes, emotional wellbeing, and a connection to land, seasons, and environment.

Castle Game
Linlithgow, West LothianCastle Game Butchery is a brilliant fit for Wee Foragers, bringing our farm-to-fork ethos to life in a real and meaningful way. It helps children and families see exactly where their food comes from, building a genuine connection to the land, the seasons, and the care behind each ingredient. By using locally sourced game and valuing the whole animal, it supports a more sustainable way of eating while modelling respect for food, nature, and traditional practices.
What makes this partnership even more special—and a real unique selling point for Wee Foragers—is the ability to create bespoke products, such as specialised sausages made with simple, whole ingredients. With no fillers or hidden extras, this is honest, nourishing food that we can trust. It also gives us the opportunity to tailor products specifically for children, introducing them to new flavours in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable.
Ultimately, it’s about giving children the very best start: offering food that is real, wholesome, and thoughtfully prepared, while deepening their understanding of where food comes from and how it connects to the world around them.
The Sanctuary Garden
Dunfermline, Fife
Sanctuary Garden Fife plays an important role in the Wee Foragers approach, working alongside us as a community garden that brings people, food, and learning together. Based in West Fife, they support and educate local community groups, helping people learn how to grow, maintain, and use their own produce building confidence and practical skills that can be taken straight into the home. Their produce is organically grown, and they incorporate Japanese gardening methods, bringing a thoughtful, balanced approach to growing that focuses on working with nature.
This reflects our shared belief in generational teaching, where knowledge, skills, and values around food are passed on in meaningful and lasting ways.
By sourcing produce from Sanctuary Garden, we are not only accessing fresh, local ingredients, but also actively reinvesting into a community led system cycling money back into local development, education, and opportunity. It’s a model that supports people as much as it supports food.
Grant, the founder of Sanctuary Garden, has been a long-standing friend of Wee Foragers and brings a huge amount of passion and experience to this work. He has led a wide range of community groups, children’s sessions, and school projects including Bring the Brood creating opportunities for children and families to connect with growing, cooking, and the outdoors in a hands-on way.
This relationship is about more than supply it’s about building community, sharing skills, and creating a culture where food is understood, valued, and accessible to all.

Blairgowrie, Highland Pershire
Glenkirlie Larder is a fantastic supplier partnership for Wee Foragers, bringing authenticity, passion, and real-life connection to everything we believe in. They actively advocate and educate within educational settings, helping children and communities understand how game is processed and why this matters for sustainability, health, and reconnecting with food origins. They supply Wee Foragers with high-quality, locally sourced venison giving children access to a lean, nutritious protein that is both sustainable and deeply connected to the Scottish landscape. Their involvement in the Cairngorms deer larder project adds a powerful real world context to this. This initiative not only supports responsible deer management and protects fragile habitats, but also provides low food-mile protein rich venison to schools and communities, while creating local jobs and training opportunities.
Raith Fruit and Vegetables
Kirkcaldy, Fife
Raith Fruit, Vegetables and Flowers plays an important role in supporting Wee Foragers, supplying fresh, seasonal produce that is carefully grown and full of flavour. Their fruit and vegetables allow us to bring the seasons to life for children, offering simple, nourishing ingredients that change naturally throughout the year and helping children begin to understand when and how food is grown.
What makes this relationship particularly special is the inclusion of flowers alongside their produce, adding colour, curiosity, and creativity into mealtimes. Edible flowers and fresh blooms create opportunities for sensory exploration, encouraging children to touch, smell, and taste in a relaxed and engaging way. This not only enriches the eating experience but also helps children build positive relationships with food.
Working closely with Raith also allows us to talk meaningfully about growing, harvesting, and caring for the land, strengthening children’s connection to nature and food origins. By using high-quality, locally grown ingredients, we can offer meals that are vibrant, fresh, and full of goodness.
Overall, this partnership strengthens the Wee Foragers approach—supporting children to enjoy food that is simple, seasonal, and thoughtfully sourced, while fostering curiosity, creativity, and a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
